Who are we?

General information 

The Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) is the successor to the values of the Belarusian Socialist Hramada (1903–1918), as well as the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (1918–1924). The history of modern Belarusian social democracy is inextricably linked by the legal succession of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada (1991-1996), the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (People's Hramada) (1996-2005), and the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) (to the present day).

The BSDP is a parliamentary-type party and unites people of various worldviews, faiths, gender identities, nationalities, and citizens of Belarus who recognize themselves as defenders of the principles of freedom, justice and solidarity, civic and social equality, the natural environment, and consider social protection of employees, youth, pensioners, and people with disabilities as a priority direction of their activities.

The rule of law, democracy, and human rights are among the most important principles of state-building.

The BSDP is confident that the listed values and principles are the most relevant for the majority of Belarusian citizens. The BSDP is a mass-type party. The realization of the ideals of social democracy is impossible without holding transparent, free, and fair elections.

Our positioning

We, the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), are the party of equality and social justice, the party of the future, the party of change.

We are convinced that every resident of Belarus has the right to security, freedom, and a decent standard of living.

Today the country has an uncertain future, political repressions against its people, and less and less justice. Belarus is indirectly involved in the Russian-Ukrainian war, and economic sanctions have been imposed against the country. Prices for goods and services are rising, healthcare and education are being commercialized, and housing is becoming inaccessible to the majority of citizens. 

We see a collapse of the legal system and enormous social inequality.

The country needs change! Belarus must become free and democratic! Power must change through free and fair elections! Belarus must condemn the military aggression of the RF and stop military cooperation with it. Fulfillment of these conditions will lead to the lifting of sanctions and the restoration of political, economic, and cultural relations with the international democratic community.

The economy must be integrated into the global one, and enterprises must become modern and eco-friendly. Freedom of entrepreneurship and cooperation, new technologies, the IT sphere, and green production must ensure the sustainable development of the country, while independent trade unions protect the rights and interests of workers.

Healthcare and education must be of high quality and accessible, and a favorable environment must be preserved for future generations.

We stand for a just and solidary Belarus! We call on all citizens to join the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada). We are confident that only together can we achieve a better future.

Values and principles

The Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada):

• Sees Belarus as an independent, free, parliamentary, democratic, social state based on the rule of law, and an equal member of the international community.
• Advocates for building a solidary society based on the principles of freedom, equality, social justice, and democracy.
• Sees Belarus as a country where there are no violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens, and where their guarantees exist and are effectively implemented.
• Advocates for a multi-structured socially oriented ecological market economy.
• Sees Belarus with developed strong independent trade unions that protect the rights of employees, while the party represents their political interests.
• Sees Belarus as an integral part of the European cultural space and the European Union.
• Sees the security of Belarus in integration and cooperation with the structures and countries of the Euro-Atlantic community.
